"Seeing A Better World With Them"

Let them talk, Write and Learn

The program aims to provide with children the necessities of life so as to help bring an ease in to their lives in the rural remote areas. We first aimed at curbing the number of children with tuberculosis as it was the first campaign that took us there so as to see that mothers and their children get tested for tuberculosis and start on medication right away as a bigger number of them were unware of their stigmas and feared for the stigma they would have to face together with their children and thus suffered in silence.

Ugandan women, in general, have a deep relationship with their children and today presently they have become the breadwinners of their families that are often extended and large in number. This overwhelms them in a number of ways and often leaves them unable to meet the needs of their children thus only taking on what they often can. Many mothers were working in dangerous places that paused so much harm to them and their children in general.

We started this program during the COVID crisis as many parents were displaced and lacked places to stay in while in the cities. We started a resettlement program with a few community leaders so as to trace their families were they would go back and with so as to make it easier for them and their children. Those women that didn’t have places to stay in, we took them where our far project land is so as to start their lives and give kids a chance to be in schools. This was not going to be easy by we did our best to make it possible and able to happen.

Partly most of the children are of different faiths and backgrounds and we make ensure every child fits in well so as to maintain what our principles and aims are. With many children coming from different family settings it is upon us to draft and set up programs that include them all and promote together.

GAMES

This is one of the most important element in anybody’s life, that many of the children are not used too because of the work schedule that their mothers set up for them, normally they would wake up early go farm and rear animals. At the start of the programs we ensured that we would do everything we can to engage and grow the children in all possible ways. The games have been a tremendously help in learning them and them understanding our role as their social workers. We wanted them to experiment through trial and error as we involved them in games as they find solutions to problems together with other children. We watch them practise what they know and also what they don’t know and through this groups are always set up among them so as to compete and bring an ease among them.

We have different categories of games starting from Football, tie threads, running, dancing, hair competitions among other games. All these games are uniform uniting figure for the children. We have seen many children have a developed confidence mentality due to games as they get to be who they want and wish to be.

WHY?

We believe all children have a right to live up to their full potential as individuals. We do the very best to ensure that we are apart to wake their dreams and support them the best way we can. Because of poverty and patriarchic beliefs, parents and society don’t believe in investing in a certain sex (girls) because of their beliefs. As we work with their parents we want to still see an impact in the lives of their children so that every development happens it is on both side of the children and their parents in a large sense. This helps to improve and build a strong bond among them.

Our program is designed for every child living in that remote area where the far project is and we ensure to do our best by involving their parents and the children at large. The program helps bridge the gap of those children who are able to attend school and those who don't as we ensure that they all have the basic needs more especially scholastic materials to keep them all in school.

WHAT WE AIM AT?

We aim to see mothers and their children have a chance in life so as to achieve their dreams and ensure that they are able to cater for their children's wellbeing through the different set ups that we run for them.

We want to see lives changed and give testimonies that honor how far God has brought them. We have watched these mothers not give up on their children right from the start as they were enduring countless challenges with them while in the city.

We want to see a generation of children transformed for the better and we put in the work to ensure that this happens.

BRIEF BACKGROUND

This project entails a few programs that we run outside the city. The program for the children is entitled ''Let them read, let them write and Learn" and it is all about the children that we meet through our women projects. Throughout this program we wanted the children to know that there is a project that fully caters for them and their needs as well.

We set programs for women however we had not included the children while setting up the women program because our emphasis at that time was to resettle as many women as possible back to communities where they would have a new chance to life and rebuild their lives. This program initially started so as to curb down the challenges caused by the COVID-19 crisis. Many women suffered during this period and the best solution we aimed at finding was resettling as many children as possible and see how best to help them. later on observing that responsibilities they have we needed to figure out a way of including their children in as the women would be working in the gardens.

Program line up

We set up programs basically at the land we own so as to have kids ready for the programs.

Many children continue to benefit and attend school and be prevented from joining dangerous groups that are associated with unethical behaviors that have often resulted into dangerous occurrences.

Seeing mothers happy and continuing to work hard to better their lives through Agriculture and animal rearing. We have witnessed great change in mothers knowing that their children are happy. It puts them at ease and allows them to focus knowing that they are together with their children.

We want to keep Family together and ensure that the relationship between mothers and their children is hugely respected and with proper understanding as many children are growing up without father figures in their lives.

Group conversations with parents and their children: We ensure to have all parents be a apart of every program we plan on engaging their kids into and we also check on the children's behaviors and performances so as to see how far they are and record the new challenges that hinder them at home and along the way.

We continue to experience change in the children: - they can write, read, learn while settled and have developed an understanding of their own on how they want to learn more and take so much on from what they are taught.

HOW IT WORKS?

We always have a drafted program out line for every weekend program. Our programs with the children and the women at the far project is every weekend from Saturday to Sunday.

We start with games and the team organizes what they will have for breakfast and see to go about the program. We ensure our program has something new to offer every weekend for the children that is either educational or recreational.

Immediately after breakfast we start on the dancing program which all children are encouraged to join. We believe this is a future sustainable program that can help generate funds for the children's needs in the future.

We run 12 programs with the children and we organized them in a systematic manner that promotes the educational and learning abilities among themselves despite just developing their talents.

"What we offer to the children in the Far project programs"

We always send our children with food supplies after programs.
